ESG Certified Professional

The ESG Certified Professional Examination (“the Exam”) is a market-focused and professionally oriented examination designed for those interested in pursuing certified proficiency in ESG in Hong Kong for performing ESG-related job duties. The Exam’s syllabus is based on HKEX public materials, with a focus on HKEX ESG reporting requirements and compliance. The syllabus also includes public information from the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (“TCFD”), Science Based Targets Initiative (“SBTi”) and International Sustainability Standards Board (“ISSB”).

 

An individual who passes the Exam will be awarded the status of ESGCP (“ESGCP/ESG認證專業人員”) by the Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies (“CHKLC”) and become a registered member of the Institute of ESG Certified Professional. Allied Environmental Consultants Limited (“AEC”) supports the Exam as the key knowledge partner. In order to maintain the status of ESGCP qualification, the person needs to maintain 10 relevant ESGCPT hours per year.

  • To create a recognised qualification for individuals as an indicator of their level of competency in ESG and HKEx listing rules compliance

  • To increase the supply of accredited ESG talents to meet the market needs

  • To promote continuous development of ESG accredited personnel to help listed companies meet the changing needs of the society and the environment

Who should take the exam?

  • Individual who are interested in pursuing careers in the ESG industry in Hong Kong.

  • Professionals (e.g. lawyers, accountants, company secretaries, SFC licensed persons, etc.) in capital market serving listed companies in Hong Kong.

  • Directors, INED, management and employees of a listed company who needs to improve their proficiency in ESG under their roles.

  • Investors, family offices and asset managers in listed companies.
